Ugg Boots, often referred to as Uggs, are a sheepskin boot made of a woolen inside and a tanned, leather outside. The wool comes to the top part of the shoe where it meets the leather. The name is actually a generic name for the footwear, as the history goes, but the terms has been trademarked by the Deckers Outdoor Corporation in both the United States and Europe. The style of Ugg Boots varies to a great degree. The height can range from as low as the ankle and as high as above the knee. They contain a rubber sole and heel and have extensive stitch work on the outside. They come in a variety of colors and can be either slip on or lace up style boots. Ugg Australian Boots have natural insulating properties and the sheepskin and wool make them very warm, while the fibers of the wool allow the shoes to breathe. This keeps the feet at a normal body temperature of 98.6 degrees and also makes for a boot that does not require socks, if that's your kind of style. Ugg Australian Boots are believed to have been invented in either New Zealand or Australia, however the exact date is unknown. What is known is that these boots were used in a variety of activities before becoming a fashion trend. It is said that World War I jet pilots wore them for warmth in unpressurized planes, shearers in Australian wore them during farming and competitive surfers and swimmers wore them during competitions while out of the water. The footwear became a fashion trend among women in the early and mid 2000's. They could be spotted on girls and women at high schools, colleges and offices alike. It was not until 2008 that the trend became widely spread among men. This was largely attributed to celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Leonardo di Caprio sporting the unisex boots. Ugg Boots then went from necessity to fashionable boot over a long period of time. How they transformed into such a big fashion accessory is hard to know exactly. What we can conclude is that when feet need warming these things will do it for you while keeping you fashionable. And how often does such a thing happen when the necessity of a product is equal to its fashionable, hip appearance? Well, almost never. So take advantage of these boots for one reason or the other, or even both.
