Nintendo Wii Overview

The Wii (pronounced "we") is a gaming console from Nintendo similar to the Xbox and PlayStation. Wii users belong to a wide demographic group; users can also surf the Internet and play online against friends or other Wii users using the Wi-Fi Connection and use it for exercise.

A gaming console cannot get more complete than this.

What Comes With the Basic Wii?

The Wii Console is sleek (just 2 inches thick) and can be placed either horizontally or vertically. It has controller ports and Nintendo GameCube memory card slots making it backwards compatible with older game titles. With world-class processors, an AV multi-output port and an SD memory card slot, it can also interact with your TV.

It has one remote with the latest motion-sensing technology, but you can add up to four remotes. It also has Wi-Fi Internet capabilities. The Nunchuk is similar to the Wii remote, but has 2 extra buttons and a Control Stick, useful in defining players' moves during your game. Wii also ships with a free copy of Wii Sports that gives you five distinct sports experiences.

Wii Accessories

The Classic Controller is a Wii accessory to enable you to enjoy Nintendo's classic games on the Wii.

The Wii balance board is easily the reason why Wii is a best seller. It is blue tooth enabled, looks like a weighing scale and has a host of exercise games.

The most popular title is WiiFit, which allows you to do anything from push-ups and yoga, to strength training and balance games. WiiFit also tells you your fitness score, and up to 4 balance boards can be plugged on to a console, so you can have group workouts too.

Wii recently introduced Wii Cyberbike, to go with its 'Cycling Sports' game to get your heart rate thumping; a pleasant alternative to gym biking.

That's not all. WiiWare is Nintendo's online ordering system where you can download new and original Wii games. All you have to do is connect to the 'Shop Channel' on your Wii and download these games for a small fee.

The Future of Wii

Compared to Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Wii seems far advanced, with its unique exercise, family fun and group interaction capabilities. With new WiiWare regularly coming out, a great basic price and cool new hardware additions such as the Cyberbike, it won't be long before there's a Wii in every living room across the world!
