Art fans had the opportunity to view the latest collection of Sarah Graham prints at an event in Birmingham. The Hitchin-born artist attended The Autumn Fair at Castle Galleries in the Birmingham ICC where she was joined by fellow Washington Green artists who were also exhibiting limited edition prints. Sarah Graham prints exhibited included 'Drink Me' featuring two Cola bottles, 'Sweet Mayhem' showing penny sweets tumbling from a jar and 'Mirror Ball' displaying a detailed marble against a vibrant and blurry backdrop. The collection has already been available in some British galleries but the event was an opportunity to meet the artists herself and discuss the Sarah Graham prints on show. She wrote on her official website: "It was great to see what everyone had been up to these past six months. Of course I had to take along my SG Sindy, who almost got as much attention as my new work!" The SG Sindy was created by toy designer Rachel Godfroy Scott who agreed to make the bespoke doll after meeting the photorealist artists at an exhibition earlier in the year. Godfroy Scott made a Sindy doll based on the major themes of Sarah Graham prints such as the use of pick n' mix sweets, lollipops and bright, vibrant colours. The Sindy doll is very similar to Sarah Graham prints with tiny wrapped sweets attached to its bright red hair, a dress bodice made up of lollipop wrappers, a red skirt complete with multicoloured stars, rainbow themed socks and red shoes. Sarah Graham said: "I am entirely motivated by colour, and as a realist painter, along with being a big kid at heart, this inevitably lead to the subject matter of toys and sweets. "It allows me to explore extremely vivid colour, and at the same time manipulate the structure and form of an image." The photorealist artist revealed on Facebook that she was a fan of French post-Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin and his views on art. She wrote on the social networking site: "Art is either plagiarism or revolution' Paul Gauguin. I like this, sums it up perfectly I think. Looking forward to checking out the huge Gauguin show at Tate." British handbag designer Helen Rochfort announced on the artist's Facebook page that she the pair would be joining forces once again to collaborate on a new collection of handbags. The duo featured in Glamour magazine's top 15 high street and designer collaborations of 2009.
