Battling Bugs in Common Hiding Places

No matter how much you clean and how vigilant you are about not bringing insects into your home, sooner or later you are going to find the tiny creatures lurking somewhere in your home. Because bugs are so small, they manage to find all of the secret nooks and crannies that allow access to your home. Once inside, they continue to seek out dark corners where they can quietly take up residence until they are ready to wreak havoc on your household. There is no way to completely eliminate bugs from your home, but there are plenty of ways to keep them under control. If you make the right decisions when it comes to battling household bugs, you will cut down on how many of the creepy-crawlies you have to see.

Bugs have common hiding places in your house and your best solution for nearly eradicating them is to seek out their hiding places and battle them on their own turf. The most likely place you are going to find a lot of bugs is in your basement. If your basement is an unfinished storage space, there is likely a giant bug party hosted down there every evening. If you are going to target one area of your home to cut down on the number of bugs living in the space, head to the basement. The good news is, if you have an unfinished basement, you are probably not spending a lot of time down there, so bugs can be left alone to live peacefully and comfortably. If your basement serves as your recreation room or family space, you will need to treat it like every other room in your home.

Since bugs like dark spaces, closets are sometimes a place where they congregate. The danger in this is their ability to crawl into your clothes. Anyone who has ever slipped on a pair of jeans or slid into a pair of shoes only to experience a spider bite will understand how important it is to eradicate bugs from the closets in your home.

If you begin clearing out bugs in secret areas in your house, you will be surprised where they turn up. Like any living creature, if you go clamoring into their home and stir things up, they are going to head out looking for a safe haven. Bugs may be turning up in your showers, sinks, and bathrooms, looking for a way into or out of your house. Keep bathrooms clean and use natural bug repellents like scented candles and oils in the space. Just adding a few drops of citronella or lemon balm oil in your drains can cut down on your insect visitors.

One of the most disturbing locations you will find a lot of bugs is in the beds in your home. The location where residents need to feel most peaceful is probably one of the top three locations bugs are hiding. Many of these are microscopic, so the probably will not be readily visible. Washing bedding on the regular basis, vacuuming mattresses, and using essential oil sprays will help alleviate the bug problems in your boudoir.
