Going on an outdoor adventure like camping or hiking is an exciting activity with either your friends or your family. Discovering new things around you and just appreciating the beauty of nature in quiet bliss is quite a rare experience these days. However, it is best to remember to make some camping safety tips that would protect you and people who are with you. To make this activity successful, the basic rule is to bring with you the right camping gear like hiking tents, sleeping bags, flashlight, lanterns, first air kit, etc. You can easily get them from a camping store.

Aside from bringing the camping equipment essentials, make sure you tell someone back in your home base about your plans. Tell who you are going with, your destination and when to expect you to be back. Just in case you need to change your plans, do not forget to call and tell them. Accidents do happen and so it is always best to let other people know your whereabouts. Never go alone even if you think you are mentally and physically prepared for such activity. Going off with someone means, you will have help just in case something happens and besides the whole camping and hiking will me twice more enjoyable than being alone.

Before pitching in your hiking tents, make sure you are familiar with your campsite. Know the area so you will have an idea where to go in case you will be needing help. Speaking of asking for help, when you buy your camping supplies from the camping store, make sure you add whistle to it. It is your best way on asking for help just in case you will need any assistance from anyone. When you are exploring the area, it would be best if you were making some noise so you would not be in danger of sneaking up to any animal. Remember not to jump over logs or any rocks if you have not checked what is on the other side. You might accidentally disturb a snake resting.

Never venture to any body of water alone. It does not matter how peaceful or tranquil the water is because they can be very deceptive. Make sure there is somebody with you and an adult supervising. Do not be adventurous especially if you do not know how to swim. Use you basic common sense. If for any unfortunate reason and that, you get lost, stop walking and just sit down somewhere you think is safe and wait for help to arrive. This is where the whistle and flashlight you got from the camping store will get handy. Do not panic because someone will go and look for you.

As you wait, do not touch leaves around you especially if you are not familiar with them. Many poisonous plants around may look pretty on the outside but are quite lethal. There is the poison ivy or what some call the leaves of three. They look so simple and innocent especially with white flowers during months of August up to November but they can cause inflammation to blistering. Refrain from scratching, as it will be worse but try washing the affected area and your hands thoroughly until professional help arrives. When you get back in your hiking tents, please avoid touching someone or anything as you can easily spread it. Do not try to put any medication on it unless you know what you are doing.
