Ants And Roaches Get Into Everything!

There are some great stories about ants and how they colonize the area they live in. But some of the facts surrounding them are rather astounding to say the least. For example, whenever the exterminators call to get rid of them, their prime target is the queen. The reason for this is that once she dies, the colony will also die because no more workers are born from that moment onwards. So it is the only way of making sure that re-infestation does not occur from this particular colony.

It is also hard to imagine how many of these seemingly innocuous creatures exist in the world too. For every human being, it is said that there are one million ants scurrying around somewhere. Of course, we often do not see them since they hide away in dark and dank places, but once they come into the home they are a complete pest because they can even invade food cupboards in search of tasty tidbits.

Of course, it is easy to just buy some spray and squirt it around the cupboards etc, but this does not really get rid of the problem at hand. These chemicals are very toxic and can make people sick if they are not handled correctly. With this in mind, it is always wise to call in the experts whenever there is an infestation of any kind so that no one, and no animal, gets damaged at all.

But the other common house pest that normally has even the sanest of people running for cover is the cockroach. Roaches are so hardy that they defy description. Indeed, if there is no food source around, these creatures can live for up to one month without taking a bite of anything. They can also go without water for two weeks and this is what makes them so hard to eradicate from the home.

Most people start chasing these horrid little creatures with a spray once they are spotted. But they can change direction up to twenty five times a second leaving most of us pointing in the wrong direction! Even if we swat at it and break off one of its legs, it just grows another one to take its place! But perhaps the strangest fact on record about these creatures is that it can actually live for nine days even when its head has been lopped off! This then is what makes them so tough to keep away from places where we live.

But there is little that a great exterminator has not seen and he can certainly do something about it. With roaches, they often leave traps, filled with tasty food, for the roach to get hold of. The sticky substance will attach itself to their feet and underbelly so the roach actually helps to spread the poison far and wide within its roaming range.

Although it was common for people to treat their own places with smoke 'bombs', these days, exterminators have gone high tech with electronic gadgetry that chases them away with sound alone.
