For anyone who has a big problem with any kind of house pest, it is often the exterminator who will have the cure to the problem. But not all exterminators are as good as they think they are. Indeed, in some states, these exterminators must have the appropriate licenses before they can undertake this work on property other than their own. For example, in North Carolina, must have one of three phases of license before they can accept this work. The first one is the P-phase which allows the company to deal with cockroaches, ants and spiders etc and this will apply to indoor varieties and outdoor varieties too. If rats and mice happen to be a problem too, they can deal with these also. The next is the W-phase license which covers any kind of termite, beetle and other wood destroying pests which invade the home and outside buildings. But these people can also carry out inspections on the property for insurance claims and the like. The third and last license is the F-phase which covers all of the above. But it specifically allows for the properties to be fumigated. This is not the 'bombs' that are available in hard-wear stores but toxic gases which are used when the whole building has been tented for such a purpose. On top of this, any company which holds these licenses must have at least one employee who can supervise others in the work. What most people think when they see that they have a problem is that it is merely a question of applying a chemical here and there to get rid of it. However, the problem could be much more complicated than this and a good inspection of the premises is required to see where the problem lies. Some of the questions that must be answered include; identifying what kind of pest is in residence. Of course, this may be a mixture of different species which sometimes makes the work that little bit harder too. Where are the pests? Is something that is being done in the house attracting them to the area and what can be done to stop this cycle? If the pest normally resides outside, how does it get inside and can that route be closed off? Once all of these questions have been answered, it is often some time before the bait or cure begins to work. It may take some time, as in rat poison, but the results will surely last a lot longer than just blazing in with chemicals. After the original foray into the problem, most good companies will do regular follow ups to make sure that the problem has been fixed and that whatever was drawing the pest there has ceased to exist. One other factor which most people forget is that weather plays a big part in any kind of pest control. Warm and humid conditions normally bring out a whole raft of bugs to annoy us but once the temperatures start to go down, the bugs up and disappear.
