Features that will Make Your Wedding Day Memorable for Guests and Wedding Party

A wedding is always memorable for the bride and groom. But the ceremonies that everyone else remembers seem to have something extra: perhaps a lavishly decorated banquet hall or a Thai-inspired city garden reception. A wedding is such a big event that it seems a shame to waste the opportunity to create something so unique that your guests will remember it too. The more personality you put into it, the more everyone will likely take from it.

While long ceremonies aren't everyone's favorite part of any event, having someone read a poem or other piece of literature could add a memorable touch to it-especially if it's brief and light. You needn't ask anyone to read a masterpiece from Shakespeare. In all likelihood, a brief passage that reflects the bride and groom's personalities is the most impactful. Something sweet and funny too, can work extremely well here.

A destination wedding, though not in everyone's budget, is another way to make the occasion unforgettable. It would be hard to beat a wedding in Spain, for example, if that's where you and your partner first met. An old castle might be a more memorable backdrop than a fancy restaurant for the reception. But if having more in attendance than immediate family and a best friend is what's important, far off lands might be better left for the honeymoon. There are banquet halls around the U.S. that go the extra mile, creating an atmosphere that is anything but ordinary.

Having a themed wedding is a way to set apart your special day while not leaving your wallets empty. Maybe your ceremony is beachside and barefoot, or perhaps you and your partner favor a special local menu, like a clambake along the New England shore or a blue crab fest in Maryland. If either of you are from another part of the world, include foreign flourishes from that culture, especially if these extras are not commonly found where your wedding is held.

A unique cake can serve as a symbolic piece of art for both you and your guests. But there is a lot more that can be done with edible entertainment, even if the wedding itself is not themed. Hiring chefs behind a sushi bar to carve up delicious rolls can make for a fun and interesting meal. Or perhaps you've got tickets to Hawaii for your honeymoon; you could create a luau dinner reception complete with a spit-roasted pig - it's both entertaining and an engaging way to your special day together.

A slide show of the bride and groom - from childhood to present - can be a very personal and entertaining addition to the occasion. Try using amusing and memorable images that are set to music and narration loaded with anecdotes that many guests may not know. This is your chance to be creative and offer the guests an entertaining glimpse of who you are, and how you got to where you are.

Above all, the ceremony and wedding reception should be statements about who you are. This will definitely make the entire event more memorable both to the wedding party, and the guests.
