Just when you think you have a bug problem under control, the weather begins to change and a new season brings a whole new issues. Worst of all, every year you are going to face the same problems unless you begin to understand what to anticipate and figure out how to adjust your bug battling to the changing weather. Just as you feel different when the weather conditions are different, bugs will be the same. During the cold winter months, people hunker down and look for warm, cozy places to cuddle up and rest. Bugs do the same. When the weather warms up and the sun begins to shine, you want to run out of those warm, dark places, let your hair down, and have a fun time. Again, bugs will follow suit. Understanding the patterns of bugs and how they relate to the changing seasons and weather will help you alleviate your indoor and outdoor insect problems.

When spring arrives and the weather gets warm, bugs get to work in the gardens, flower beds, and backyards of our homes. If they have spent the winter indoors, the come creeping out of the shadows looking for a way to get outside and enjoy the weather. Just as it does for everything in nature, springs warm temperatures riles bugs up and a home that appeared bug free a few months ago will now seem like the hottest insect hotel in town. Expecting this spring break for bugs to take place in your yard and home will leave you feeling prepared to deal with the onslaught.

Just as the warm weather brings the bugs out to play, cold weather drives them indoors. Spiders and other bugs are going to search for a warm corner or dark closest to keep them warm all winter. Granted, they will not live for more than a few days, but should they happen to hatch during the colder weather, their goal is to spend their short life in cozy warmth. While you and your pets will want to spend more time indoors during the bitter cold of winter, do your best to keep bugs on the outs during this time.

While it seem as if the mosquito is the official insect of most regions of the world, there are higher numbers of them in wet, humid climates. Mosquitoes love the jungle, so if you want to protect yourself from itchy bites, and worse, keep your yard un-jungle like. During the rainy season where you live, anticipate a mosquito party and battle it ahead of time. Chemicals applied to grass, shrubs, and trees can help cut down on the mosquito crop, even if you live in a warm, humid climate.

Finally, remember that not all bugs are bad. The warm weather brings good bugs to our yards and homes, and it is important to let nature take its course. While you do not want a house full of pests, the occasional spider will work hard to reduce the amount of other pests in your home. Outdoors, you will want to encourage the presence of any insect that eliminates mosquitoes. Best of all, you will want to welcome ladybugs, dragonflies, caterpillars, and butterflies into your yard for good luck and natural beauty.
