There are many different ways to tie a tie (hi hi). There are tons of knots and tricks and every Windsor Knot or Pratt Knot looks different and suits different... suits. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the variations and there's a lot of home work to do. I mean, you probably don't want to wear the wrong the tie or use the wrong knot and end up looking like a douche. And if that's not complicated enough, you also got tie accessories to choose from. Yup. If your shirt's got 14k gold cufflinks, why shouldn't your tie? Tie accessories are all sorts of tiny clips and tacks and bars that help you secure the tie to your shirt and prevent from the cold winter wind to blow your tie all over the place, behind your shoulder and over your face. So what do you do? Which tie accessory should you use and what the heck is a tie tack??? Relax! That's why I'm here for. Let me take you step by step through all the men accessories and tie accessories available today, so you'll be able to choose the right piece, and look like million dollars. First, let's take a look at the magnificent world of Tie Tacks. A tie tack is one of the oldest ways to secure a tie. They say that the Knights of the Round Table were the first ones to try and use tie tacks, but couldn't pin the tack through their shields so they burned the inventor at the stake (Na... I just made it up. Ties were only invented in the late 17th century). Anyway, tie tacks came a little later and these are actually very nice pins that go through the tie, and clips under your shirt. The result is an elegant stone or piece of metalwork that's decorating the center of your necktie. You don't have to be Einstein when learning how to don a tie tack. You only need to know that Don is a verb in the English language. It's called "Don" because when you put on the tack, you have to be carful and you "Don"t want mess up your tie and make a big hole in the middle of it. So you probably don't want to pick a tie that's too gentle as well. All and all, if you pick a nice tack that'll match your 14k gold cufflinks, then you're sure to look classy and unique. Now if the whole hole through the tie is freaking you out, you can also go for a Tie Bar. This accessory will clip your tie like there's no tomorrow. It will keep anything in place and straight, and you will look neat (not neat like the 80s slang word, but actually neat, tidy). The tie bar replaced the tie tack and the tie pin and it's a great little accessory because no damage is done to the tie while keeping it under control. There are many tie bars and tie tacks available. Some will match your 14k gold cufflinks, others will show affiliation to a club or a shared cause or idea. You really limitless options and thousands of mens accessories to choose from, but you have to keep in mind that every single tack or pin or clip that you wear, has to match up with the entire attire. Huh!
