By : Nick Messe

A pan lid or baking soda can sometimes put out a small grease fire, but when it spatters and spreads to other surfaces the whole kitchen can be aflame in no time. It's a devastating thing to have happen. Sometimes there's structural damage and there's always a mess to clean up. Some paper and cloth are ash and not salvageable. Wood can be damaged and need rebuilt or replaced. Wall surfaces can have damage, too.

When 911 is called and the fire department puts out the fire there's additional water damage. Never use your own water source to try to put out a grease fire. Grease and water do not mix. What is left is a mess smelling of smoke that will be an overwhelming clean up for the average individual. Time is precious and there may be other needs to be met than the steady, tedious task of cleaning to establish a safe and smoke free cooking space again.

There are many services that are not thought of until there is a need for them. One such service is the restoration and clean up business. Unfortunate accidents occur and many types of cleaning may need to be done. Hard wood floors are very popular now as are tile floors. These may absorb odors that seems impossible to remove. Some grout is more porous than others and will need to be neutralized so smells do not linger.

Drapery and curtains may need more than washing to remove odors. And then there's duct work. If the fumes have gotten into the system it can be spread throughout the building. Respiratory ailments can occur or be exasperated from residual smoke damage. A professional crew can remedy this trouble. Artwork and other specialty items that survive need a specialist's touch to be saved.

Water damage restoration is equally important to keep inhabitants as healthy as possible. Soaked wood is a prime target for molds to grow so sanitizing these properly is essential. Pipes can be broken or damaged and cause tremendous damage. Hidden areas, one may not realize, can get wet and retain moisture for long periods of time if there is not adequate ventilation in the area.

If there are untreated wooden surfaces, carpenter ants or termites can move in and damage once sound structures. Even a pipe with the smallest leak can trickle into an expensive mess. A specialist in restoration and cleaning will promptly notice places the client may not and be able to relieve the stress of not knowing if every nook and cranny is safe.

People trained in this specialized field should have intense training to meet needs. Knowledge of OSHA rules for clean up are a must. Multiple content cleaning methods to meet the requirements necessary for complete cleanliness are continuously updated. Not only skills, but equipment should be state of the art, too. Having complete confidence in those helping to get life back to normal is the top priority during this hectic time.
