Taking Steps Toward a Low-yeast Diet

By : John Paul Abbot

The majority of us understand that bacterial organisms reside in numerous parts of the human body. The yeast-like fungi living in moist tissues of the body are classified as Candida. This particular group of microorganisms may increase beyond a person's tolerance levels. Usually, Candida is held in check by beneficial bacteria. On the other hand, heavy infections as a result of overgrowth involving Candida in the stomach and intestines may spur on a host of disorders and conditions.Arguably, the most common condition is that which is known as a "yeast infection". Designing an eating plan to lessen and eliminate related symptoms is the goal.

Altering one's diet is essential to combating this problem. Improved health may be achieved over the course of three to six weeks. One of the most important steps in combating yeast infections is to alter your diet to deprive the yeast of sustenance. Eliminating processed, sugary foods is a step one must take. Avoiding foods such as cheese and other fermented foods will affect yeast growth as well. Further consideration should be given to cut down on the consumption of alcohol. Basically, the foods that break down into sugars, including those with high starch content should be avoided.

Getting your eating habits back to the basics of natural unprocessed foods clearly is the goal. Adapting to a diet specifically designed to combat the over production of candida, may feel restrictive at first. However, there are a wide range of healthy and enjoyable foods that can be eaten while following such a diet. Vegetables and beans should be eaten along with meats, eggs and whole grains. Also supplements, either doctor prescribed or from the health food store, are known to be effective. One such supplement is "Probiotics". It is a pill with live beneficial bacteria, designed to restore balance between the Candida and helpful bacteria.

When switching to such a diet, one should consider a moderate exercise program to improve overall health. Those who follow this diet will notice less fatigue and increased energy. With the added benefit of weight reduction, your exercise program will become more enjoyable. Through the combination of fitness and selective eating the symptoms of yeast overgrowth will disappear. Changing to a diet that is low in yeast intake may alleviate symptoms of: irritable bowel disease, migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic ear infections, asthma, and attention deficit disorder. One should consider lifestyle changes needed to help combat the effects of recurring yeast infections. And the key to controlling the Candida bacteria levels in your body starts with practical steps through diet and exercise.
