Stainless steels appliances have become extremely popular nowadays. Most homeowners opt for a stainless steel look, everything from the refrigerator to electric mixer—stainless steel has taken over. The shiny characteristic of stainless steels gives a kitchen a luxurious look that many people favor over plastic. The only problem with stainless steel is the upkeep. The pesky smudges that never seem to go away when left behind after being touched is an issue that everyone has. When it comes to (almost) smudge-free stainless steel kitchen appliances, follow these helpful tips: Make sure that everyone in the house uses the handles of the stainless steel appliances. This will help prevent smudges and fingerprints left. For refrigerators, make sure that no one uses their food to close the doors; shoes can leave marks and damage the doors. Keep stainless steel wipes handy. If you see even just one single smudge, wipe it immediately. Don't let one smudge turn into two, then three, then another three on the pre-existing three. The longer a smudge is left ignored, the more difficult it is to remove it, especially after it dries after being exposed to oxygen for a prolonged period of time. Set a scheduled time for a weekly buffing. Use a smooth cloth, terry cloth, or old cotton shirts for buffing away dust, particles or any other surface imperfections you notice. Schedule this stainless steel buffing into your weekly cleaning routine so it's not an additional chore. Buffing will also make a great arm exercise. There are stainless steel cleaning solutions for when regular buffing and wipes don't work. Wipe with a terry cloth to dry and buff. Or you can try using a homemade cleaning solution to make your kitchen appliances shine. Take an empty spray bottle and mix 2 parts vinegar with 1 part water. Shake, then spray your stainless steel with the mixture. Again, wipe with a terry cloth. But here's a trick, spray down one appliance, then spray another, then go back to the first to wipe down. Allowing the vinegar some time to set in will produce better results. Repeat as necessary. Finally, once all your kitchen appliances are wiped down, take a little bit of oil, baby oil or olive will work and wipe down with a dry soft cloth in the same direction. Your appliances should look brand new by now! Instead of using tape or other adhesive materials to post messages on your stainless steel appliances, hang a message board instead to. Why? Adhesive tapes are extremely hard to remove. Avoid using magnets. Yes steel will hold a magnet very well, but many magnets have rigid and unsmooth edges that will scratch the steel. Stick to hanging pictures or your children's reports to the hanging board in your kitchen.
