Healthy Wellness Teas

I've recently been experimenting with tea, and the many wellness teas that promise a wide variety of health benefits. When I first started experimenting with tea, I was almost overwhelmed by the sheer variety of tea that exists on the planet. Just the fact that there's black tea, green tea, red tea, white tea, and herbal tea is already difficult enough to remember, but to get a handle on the innumerable combinations that exist in each genre is probably close to impossible. The reason why I've been intrigued by tea, and wellness tea especially is exactly because there are so many varieties. Since each person is different and has different dietary and nutritional needs, each individual person can find the right combination of ingredients in their tea to really give their bodies the boost they could use. Below I've documented a wide variety of different kinds of wellness teas and what they're good for in the body.

1. Detox Wellness Teas. Detox teas are essential in the world of teas. They should be the first kind of wellness tea you try. Your body is a machine, and most people's machines don't run very efficiently. Detox teas help remove the toxins and chemicals that keep your body from running smoothly and efficiently. It's the foundation that you'll want to build upon. Luckily for you, there are a lot of different varieties of detox teas. Some of them will taste better than other ones. Go through the whole box before moving onto any of the others.

2. Energizing and Metabolism Wellness Teas. We are all aware that there's a big difference between having a lot of energy and simply being awake and alert from caffeine. The great thing about having a detoxed system is that your metabolism and energy levels should naturally go up. But if you want them to go up even more, there are many varieties of wellness teas that you can find that will support increased metabolism and energy function.

3. Immune System Boosting Wellness Tea. One of the great things about tea is that it naturally helps the immune system ward off disease. Even just hot water with lemon and honey is soothing to the throat and lungs and has been shown to help fight off flu and cold. But you don't need to stop there. There are known herbs and natural ingredients that have been shown to boost the immune system, like echinacea, and this and others are in many of the wellness teas you'll find. It's a very good idea to keep a box of immune system boosting tea in your office for those days when a sick coworker comes wandering in and you don't want to take a chance getting sick yourself. When that happens, go for the tea instead of the coffee to give your immune system what it needs to keep you healthy. As a matter of fact, you can be a nice friend and offer a bag to your sick coworker.

4. Green Tea for Increased Brain Function. Science has shown more and more that green tea has great benefits for brain function and also for energy and weight loss. Green tea catechins have been shown to improve memory, the ability to learn, and clarity of thinking. Most any green tea is fine for this purpose, as green tea contains 4 times more catechins than black teas. Green tea can be found in wide variety at most any grocery store. Take a gander next time you're in the store.

5. Antioxidants. Many teas are high in the antioxidants that fight cancer. A lot of teas have actually been blended specifically to contain high levels of antioxidants. These are common as well, and can generally also be found at your local grocery store. You can never have too many antioxidants in your diet, and getting them through wellness teas is a very good idea. There's nothing wrong with making a cup of antioxidant tea every so often with whatever other kinds of teas you prefer.
