Held Motorcycle Gloves For Cold Weather

By : Cedric Welsch

As summer comes to end, it might be time for motorcycle riders to start planning for the cold winter months by purchasing some Held motorcycle gloves to keep hands warm. No matter how good a jacket or riding suit may be at protecting a rider from the elements, without high quality riding gloves, no rider, no matter how hardy, will be able to stay out for very long. For that reason, good cold-weather gloves are an essential part of any motorcycle enthusiast's biking gear. When it comes to gloves, there are many options on the market. However, Held motorcycle gloves are very well thought of in the riding world, and they have a few gloves made especially for cold weather.

The first pair of gloves in their lineup, the Freezer gloves, are a throwback to the big mitts that were worn years ago. However, despite their retro style, these gloves hold up well when compared to other modern types. The outer shell is made from aniline cowhide in addition to a Goretex membrane. They are water repellent and also have a Primaloft lining. These gloves are roomy and comfortable, and easy to put on and take off, with both a fastener and a zipper. Riders who are averse to more plainly styled gloves may find another pair more attractive, however. One other drawback noted by reviewers is that the thickness of the gloves does make the grip feel strange. They do keep the hands very warm for rides under an hour or two in length and are more water-resistant than others in this category.

Riders looking for Held motorcycle gloves for cold conditions might also want to consider the Held Warm n Dry gloves. Unlike others on the market, these gloves are designed to be used with heated grips. The palm of the glove is made of goatskin, with a Gore-Tex membrane and Gore-Tex Fleece. Although these gloves may be thinner than other types of gloves, they are meant to provide good insulation and keep heat in, while still allowing heat from the grips to come through. They also feature a visor wiper, Scotchlite piping, and claim to be waterproof while wicking away moisture so that the hands can breathe. Though these gloves are a little pricey, they have received favorable reviews and may be worth considering.

It is important to note that no glove currently on the market can really protect against extremely harsh weather conditions. However, a glove can still offer a substantial amount of protection from the cold. Held motorcycle gloves designed for cold weather, while pricey and occasionally hard to find in the US, are high quality and well liked by riders around the world.
