Be Kind To Your Sewage System

Sewer line repair is needed anytime that you have issues with sewage back-up, leaks, or other issues with your sewage system. Your repairs can be as simple as snaking the pipes. However in some cases you will also find that extensive digging is needed in order to find the pipes that are causing the problem. It is always best to consult a professional as soon as you notice the problem in order to find the most effective solution, and before any more damage can occur.

A professional sewage line repair team will use a variety of tools to find the problem and fix it with as little digging as possible, but in some cases a simple, no-dig solution is just not feasible. One of the most common problems, for example, is that tree roots tear through the existing sewage lines, causing leaks. This type of problem is solved by removing the portion of the root causing the problem in mild cases. In more severe cases replacing the line and removing the tree causing the problem will be necessary.

Sewage line repair can include many different options, some simple and others more complex. Backed up sewage lines can cause problems that include flooded basements, muddy yards, and slow drainage of toilets, sinks, and tubs. The first step of your sewage line repair is to take a look inside the pipes. There are now cameras that can be used to identify the condition of the pipes, find breaks and roots in the pipes, and find any other potential problems.

It is important to take good care of your sewage line in order to avoid repairs. First, take note of what kind of substances you shouldn't put into the sewage system, such as excessive grease from cooking, eggshells, and coffee grounds. One of the most common problems encountered with backed up sewage lines is the disposal of items that do not disintegrate on their own, such as baby wipes and paper towels, which get deposited into the system. You can avoid many problems by simply watching what you put into the sewage system and maintaining the system properly.

You will also want to clean your pipes weekly with baking soda, vinegar and boiling water to clean sink and tub drains. You may also want to call in a professional plumber for an annual or semi-annual cleaning to ensure your pipes are clean and working properly. In some cases, it is possible to fix sewage lines, or even install a new system, without using extensive digging. You will find that there are a wide range of options for replacing and fixing existing sewage systems that did not exist in the past. Trenchless sewage system installation and repair, for example, does not require digging and will leave your property undisturbed even when you need extensive repairs.
