It is not about the money, they will tell you. To live the lifestyle you have always dreamed of is not even about the sports car or the big home -- it's about 'freedom', the lifestyle few have and everyone wants. Today's economy has more eye-balls focused on become an entrepreneur, and there's nothing wrong with that. Pay the rent, utilities and food, and you have peace of mind for a week. But what if you are one of the "true" number of unemployed? When you are hurting for some extra cash - help may be located within your very own home! Making money online is not a get-rich-quick road and it does take a reasonable amount of work. Set up a website, pick out a product and begin to sell it -- sounds too simple you say. Competition has been marketing for years and years ahead of you perhaps, they know how to attract the best traffic. So, my advice is not to try and run with the big dogs if you can't keep up. Does 'big dog' describe you... then chances are you are not! Most work-from-home businesses start with a "keyword" or a "keyword phrase" like weight loss, work from home or how to train dogs. These keywords bring high numbers of "searches" per month. So choose something on the same idea but in what is called a "niche" area, like "erase migraines" or "make candles for fun and profit"... that way you can level the playing field. Should you focus on what you know - or what you love? Ah, a good question and I don't have the answer. This has to be a personal choice. In a perfect world you could have both; No single choice is a one-size-fits-all opportunity. I guess we all would like to get paid for working at something that we would be doing anyway. Ideally, a home business using your hobby or special interest would be the first choice. You should be challenged or boredom will raise it's ugly head and enthusiasm will wane. In addition, if you happen to sell your own products or designs there is probably more of a chance that you will work harder and have a stronger belief in your product. Before you get started do some reading about how other entrepreneurs have started. I have heard from many new moms who have turned their hobbies into a home business; the perfect way to work for yourself at something that you are already doing. Can you sew cloth diapers made from organic cloth? Sounds too simple, but let me point out that hardship is everywhere in America today. Disposable diapers are the one area many new moms would eliminate if they had a sound alternative... and need I mention 'going green'?
