4 Key Points About Chronic Lyme Disease for Prevention and Early Detection

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=48
By : Patricia Strasser

Chronic Lyme disease is an infectious inflammatory disease, is caused by spirochete bacteria called Borrelia, exhibits various neurological symptoms, and needs comprehensive diagnosis and antibiotic treatments to minimize infection from prevention or early detection.

Lyme disease can develop according to the stages of infection. The infection will begin from an tick bite that often leaves a red bull's-eye rash spot. The onset of the Lyme infection can develop into a complicated clinical disease. If the symptoms linger and persist regularly or periodically, then the Lyme infection has reached its chronic stage. Often times a Lyme infection can be misdiagnosed since the various symptoms are similar to other diseases. Simply understand that chronic Lyme disease is a Lyme infection in its latter stage. Read further to know the diagnosis of chronic Lyme disease.

Infectious inflammatory disease

Chronic Lyme infection has inflammatory causing pathogenesis caused by the bacterial lipoproteins. The bacterial lipoproteins are responsible for triggering harmful effects to most parts of the body. It will trigger dysfunction to the immune system when cytokines chemicals of our body's immune system are imbalanced. The imbalance of the regulation of our immune system will result in inflammation and pain. Inflammatory infection to most parts of the body can be observed when the Lyme infection has reached its chronic stage.

Brought by spirochete bacteria called Borrelia

Borrelia Burgdorferi are bacteria that belong to the spirochete family. This Lyme disease carrying bacteria is commonly found in many types of ticks. Deer ticks are the popularly known ones that carry the Lyme infecting bacteria. The protein on the outer surface of the Borrelia membrane is the area where the inflammatory causing lipoproteins are produced.

Exhibits various neurological symptoms

The persistent infection of a chronic Lyme disease exhibits various neurological symptoms. These symptoms are joint pains, arthritis, alteration of mood, sleeping pattern, and memory loss. An infected person can also feel tingling sensations and numbness. Painful joint inflammation usually develops in the big joints such as the knees. Meningitis and other serious body malaise is also frequent in a intermittent phase. Often times these symptoms will only initially appear during the latter, or chronic, stage of Lyme disease. In worst cases, the symptoms will worsen resulting in irregular heart rhythm and dysfunction to the autonomic nervous system. If misdiagnosis happens and the infection is left untreated, then complications can be fatal.

Needs comprehensive diagnosis and antibiotic treatments

Since Lyme disease can be confusing and difficult to diagnose, it is important to conduct a comprehensive antibiotic treatment. When a patient is undergoing alternative therapies to cure Lyme infection, it is also important to take a number of complimentary nutritional regimes that can strengthen the immune system. Alternative therapy should promote the detoxification of Borrelia bacterial lipoproteins from the body. This will repair and balance the disrupted immune system.

Statistically, chronic Lyme disease persists more severely in women that in men. Although no scientific study can tell the reason behind it, it is still helpful to be mindful to seriously take care of our health.
