Camberley Property-Why It Is Great For London Workers And Property Investors

Lying just 31 miles south west of central London, Camberley is an excellent option for those working in London. With a population of a little over 30,000 the town is considered to be friendly and is notable for its large amount of trees which impact the visitor arriving for the first time. It is in the Surrey district and lies in the corridor between the M3 and the M4 motorways. The train station is served by the Guildford to London Waterloo service.

Residents of Camberley consider that it has a great atmosphere, excellent motorway access and good facilities. Property prices peaked in Camberley in 2007 and then dropped dramatically during the recession. The early part of 2010 saw them start to increase again but later 2010 saw them decrease.

From an investment perspective as mortgages are increasingly difficult for people to get the rental market is flourishing. With Camberley's great location, investing in a buy to let property there would be a sound investment. These potential buyers who are not able to obtain mortgages are flooding the rental market which is leading to a shortage of properties to rent.

The local area has a heavy army presence, with Sandhurst Army Training College at one end and neighbouring Aldershot. The army carry out exercises and equipment tests so that the sound of rifle fire becomes like a familiar background noise. However local residents say that this sounds much worse than it is and in reality it does not bother them at all.

For those who like Indian food the town has an impressive choice of Indian restaurants. There are also Nepalese restaurants some of which were set up by Ghurkas as well as many other types of cuisine available.

The Mall is the town's shopping centre which was built in the Main Square in the late 1980s. There is a large clock at the centre of the complex which is also home to a lift up to a cafe. There are also shops on the high street as well as some secondary shopping streets.

In 2008 the Vue cinema opened to join the town's already existing theatre, public library, football club and the Arena which is a sports and leisure facility. There had previously been a cinema which had closed in 2003.

Siemens moved their UK Headquarters in 2007 to the area and Sun Microsystems are located in Minley which is just across the Hampshire border. The doughnut company Krispy Kreme UK is located in the town centre.

If you do decide to consider relocating or buying an investment property in Camberley, don't be surprised if you see a white elephant if you are on the A30 approaching the Meadows roundabout!
