If you are searching for a long lost love or old classmate or maybe somebody who owes you money and has disappeared, there are some very effective ways to trace people.

Here are some suggestions to help you get started.

Google. This is the first place I would begin. Simply type in the person's name you are looking for. You never know what you'll find.

You can try to vary the search terms. In other words if typing in just the person's name brings unsatisfactory results, try their name along with the city or state you believe they live in.

The important thing is to mix it up and vary details in the search terms. Other options are to try searching for places, companies, or organizations you know these people have been involved in. Sometimes there is current contact info available there.

Google is great because it's got so much useful information and it's free. So you might be able to save yourself a lot of time and money by beginning here.

Facebook. Originally a place where teenagers and college students exclusively hung out, Facebook is now one of the most websites in the planet.

According to recent statistics, Facebook has over 400 MILLION registered users. Of these users, over half access Facebook at least per day. And each registered user has an average of 125 friends in their network.

Facebook has a feature called friend finder which can help you to locate a person you're searching for. It can search by email, name, etc. If you are unsuccessful at locating the person directly, you can trying finding their friends, relatives, or other acquaintances.

Many companies are listed in Facebook as well as civic organizations. People register in these groups so they can be a great place to network and ultimately find the person you are looking for.

In my personal experience, it's amazing the number of people I have reconnected with after almost 40 years! So definitely use Facebook as one of your key resources. It's very comprehensive and free to use as well.

Pipl is a personal search engine which supposedly locates details about people which Google tends to miss. It can bring up a lot of personal information including names, addresses, phone numbers, personal websites, and even Amazon likes/dislikes. Definitely a good place to investigate.

Wink. This website searches several social websites at once. This includes Friendster, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, or Xanga accounts. This saves you from having to search each website individually. Definitely a nice timesaver and you can often get desired great results.

5. Zoominfo. This website is normally used by people to obtain info about new jobs or network with other folks in the workplace to enhance their careers.

It can also be used very effectively to obtain information about people you might be looking for who are most likely in the work world. When people register here they tend to provide a great deal of personal information so try it and see.
