Off-site is all about building high quality links to your site, from other relevant websites. Link building, as it is known, is quite a large topic, and has many different approaches by different people, so make sure that the search engine optimization tutorials that you consider cover this topic in depth. Some optimizers claim that off-site optimization constitutes up to 90% of any website's SEO success, so don't overlook this element.
As mentioned earlier, SEO is a large topic, and by its very nature, is one of great controversy, with "experts" seemingly contradicting each other day in and day out, as the topic evolves and develops. This said, the basics are all that you need to get your website well ranked, and paying attention to any of the many free search engine optimization tutorials out there should help you learn these basics and get your website to the top.
