If you find yourself worrying about things that, in reality, are unlikely to happen or you often feel worried, anxious or tense all day long when there is really no reason to, then you are showing a few of the symptoms of GAD. All of us have worries and fears about certain aspects of our lives but if your anxiety is constant enough to get in the way of your normal life,stopping you from relaxing and preventing you from functioning normally then you may have developed GAD. GAD is a fairly common condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It tends to manifest itself as chronic worrying or anxiety,general tension and nervousness with sufferers finding it very difficult to switch off and relax. If you are suffering from generalized anxiety disorder your anxiety is not related to a particular thing, occasion or event. You will feel anxious all the time and your anxiety will influence every part of your life. The feeling is not as intense as, for example, a panic attack but instead is a long lasting feeling of anxiety that makes a normal life almost impossible. The condition is both mentally and physically exhausting, it saps your energy, destroying any sense of well being and generally wearing you down. You will find yourself worrying about the same things as other people such as health, family, money and work but your worrying will be exaggerated out of all proportion. Worries willbe constantly repeating in your mind, you won't be able to turn them off. People with GAD will go through their days in a constant state of anxiety, thinking the worst of every situation even when there are no grounds for their anxieties. Worrying is a perfectly normal aspect of our lives but it is when the worrying gets out of hand and begins to interfere with our normal life that you have a problem. Excessive worrying, irrational and intrusive thoughts that keep popping into your head are symptoms of Generalized Anxiety. The anxiety can take over your life actually preventing you from finding a solution. The symptoms of GAD can vary from day to day and even hour to hour. You might have good days and bad days, you might find that your worrying is worse in the morning or for others, late at night is the worst time their worries. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms but most sufferers experience some or all of the following symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder. Problems and worries continuously running through your mind. Irrational and intrusive thoughts with worries appearing in your head at any time. Not being able to cope with uncertainty, needing to know exactly what is going to happen in the future. A feeling that your anxiety is out of control, that you can't stop yourself from feeling anxious. An all pervading sense of fear or apprehension. Being tense at all times with muscle pain from the tension. Difficulty sleeping either difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. An inability to relax, as if your brain can't stop thinking. Unable to enjoy being alone. You put things off because you feel completely overwhelmed by everything and avoid social situations where you feel anxious. You have trouble concentrating on things. You feel edgy or nervous a lot, jumping at sudden sounds. You may begin to suffer stomach problems, diarrhoea and sickness. It is important to get a professional diagnosis and getting yourself checked out. Generally speaking, if you have tended to be a nervous person or be anxious in the past you may well have developed GAD but similar symptoms are also caused by certain medicatiosn and medical conditions General Anxiety Disorder can be treated and people go on to make a full recovery!.
