Many people wonder what the use of extractor fans are. Extractor fans may have many uses, if you look at the specific type of fan the person might be referring to. The direct meaning of the word, according to an on-line encyclopedia, is to extract stale air from various spaces. Some may ask if it is necessary to include a canopy extractor in a bathroom. Well, if the bathroom is small, or does not have adequate windows, it just might be. Windows allow for much needed airflow in and out of the bathroom, otherwise it becomes so damp that the chances are the walls will start turning mouldy. This is a very difficult thing to fix, even if the correct type of paint has been used from the beginning. Their application in kitchens have also rapidly become more popular. These days a kitchen could come custom built with an extractor fan, or the owner may choose to install one himself. The main reason to include this in a kitchen would be to help clear the air from cooking steam. This steam is not ordinary at all. It contains all types of sugars and oils that make it very clingy and hard to clean. Once the surfaces surrounding the stove are built-up with dirt, it is really a difficult clean. This dirt not only targets walls, but any other item close enough to become affected. Although cleaning of these areas might happen routinely, it has been proven to eliminate the problem almost complete when a extraction unit is installed. As one can see, the uses in the home are multiple. But the fact is that extractors are also used industrially. There are many businesses that would be operating way below the level they are now, if it has not been for the use of this invention. It is used in the food industry with much success. When picked crop are put in a cooler for prolonged freshness, the extractors helps to take out all the hot air emitted from these foods and the hot air that comes into the cooling unit when the doors are opened and closed. This preserves these foods to the maximum. Other types of cooling units make use of these fans for the same reasons. And it is not just the storage containers, but also those that transport the foods. This ensures the foods really stays fresh for the longest period of time possible. Now, taking a look at the working environments that also make use of extractors. There are for example the carpenters and painters. These are both daily jobs for many people. They use the fans because the products they use emit gasses or fumes. The same are true for those who work with toxic fumes such as sulphur. This ingredient is used in the making of various agricultural products, to name but one category. These industries may give their workers masks to wear as well, but extracting the harmful gases might still be an intelligent step to take.
