Moments To Cherish

As we lie on our deathbeds, there are things we look back upon with regret, and things that we remember with much more fondness. Here are a few happier times that people tend to reminisce over.

The Wedding Day

It's an obvious one, but the wedding is supposed to be the happiest day of your life (although sometimes the day you get divorced feels much better) and if you have a strong marriage one that doesn't have its image tainted by what follows afterwards.

As you sit at the top table next to your new husband or wife, you can't help but feel an air of optimism. All your friends are in the marque - which looks stunning - as are your family and you know that what you are doing just feels so right.

If you're the man you make a speech where you tell your bride just how much you lover her before being taken to the cleaners by your "best mate" and if you're the bride then you get to sit there and just watch the mayhem unfold in front of you.

Getting Your Degree

Although many people go to university these days with the expectation that they'll pick up a degree and waltz through life quite comfortably as a result, for many people who are dying right now getting to university was a real challenge and completing the course successfully a real achievement. It genuinely opened up more opportunities to them, rather than today where it just means you get the chance to put yourself on the start line in the race for jobs.

That First Kiss

Very few of us end up marrying the person we share our first kiss with, and this is often a very good thing for the marriage. However, the uncertainty of whether the person you want to kiss wants to kiss you back is electrifying, even more so than when you're in a nightclub in your twenties at five to two in the morning, simply because not only are you running the risk of unrequited love but because you don't really know what you are doing.

There seems to be so much at stake, but as you look back on your deathbed you can appreciate that actually there was very little. Nevertheless, that illusion that so much hinged on that moment makes it even more special.

Those are just a few of the things you could remember when you die, what would you like your lasting memory to be?
