The plumbing industry had became very essential and basic part of a developed economy because of the need for water and proper waste disposal. It refers to a fixtures and pipes system installed in an establishment or facility for distributing potable and clean water. It is distinguished from sewage systems since plumbing is considered to be servicing a particular building while the sewage system serves a whole city or groups of buildings. The word "plumbing" came from a Latin word "plumbum" which means lead. The word was derived from it because the pipes were once made up of lead. Before the nineteenth century, this industry is very rare. At the same time, the health institutes were demanding for better disposal of wastes. It actually originated from Roman, Persians and Greek ancestors because of their need of potable water, drainages and public baths. And because of water theft, the Romans have decided to use lead pipe. The improvement in terms of plumbing grew at a very slow pace. No progress has been visible until the time that the Romans have discovered lead pipes. After the Second World War, lead has been banned because it was believed that it contains dangerous chemicals that can affect man's health. From that moment, copper has been introduced and used as a substance to make pipes. It was declared as safer and better alternative for pipes made of lead. Plumbing fixtures were designed as end users. Some great examples are toilets, bathtubs, urinals and fountains. Of course, every physical job requires tools and equipments. Plumbing includes pumps, gauges, water meters, wrenches and many others. Nowadays, there are advanced technology that helps the plumbers to the job more efficient and without any hassles. Video cameras and hydraulic pumps are being used to get exact information on the water pipes. Some major categories of the system include septic systems, hot and cold water supply, drainages and fuel gas piping. There are a lot of plumbing services worldwide which hire people who are really intended for the job. They often provide free training to their employees to serve their customers better. Pipe works can be very complicated but with the right experience and training, plumbers can get used to it in no time. There are organizations for plumbers that check and control the activities of licensed plumbers to make sure that they professionally work for their clients. Plumbing seems to be simple, but even if it is just pipe works, right education must be learned for a person to qualify on this kind of industry.
