If you've just moved and want to make your new kitchen entirely yours, or perhaps you're building the house of your dreams, there are some steps to take to customize your kitchen. From cabinet knobs to switch plates, you can utilize details, or change larger factors like the color scheme or wood design to make your kitchen the best it can be. 1. Paint: The walls of your kitchen should be bright and happy, since this is where you and your family likely spend the majority of your time together. Choose a color that suits your preferences , welcomes visitors, and makes you hungry (like a tint between yellow or red). 2. Cabinets: Choosing custom cabinets and cabinet knobs can enhance the feel of your kitchen –literally. If you're doing a kitchen renovation, new wood panels can really make a difference in the color scheme and texture. If you don't want to invest quite as much time or money, you can simply choose new kitchen cabinet knobs. More modern or more classic cabinet knobs do a lot to affect how we engage visually and tactilely with the kitchen. 3. Lighting: Moving from switch lights to a dimmer is a great idea, especially for when you want to have an intimate dinner, or relax over desert. Lighting can do the most to set the mood of a room, as you know from when you light candles or are in the fluorescence of a hospital. Other details you can add are custom switch plates, which say something more than the standard plastic tope switch plates - what exactly is for you to decide. 4. Accessorize: Maybe your microwave is from the 70's. Maybe you use a steel lever to open your fridge. Or maybe you use a match to light your stove. New appliances don't just look better, they can help cook your food better or keep it colder, better preserving it. Plus, on most new appliances there are a host of new features that you may not even realize you're missing. If this is the case, it could benefit you and the resale price of your home to invest in some new appliances. 5. Pantry: For those with a kitchen pantry, you're lucky. The same cabinet knobs idea applies here: a new wood finish or door knob hardware can bring your pantry well into the modern era. The kitchen is a special place where your family comes together to repast. Making it more comfortable will encourage you to eat in more often, saving money, and keeping your family bonds stronger. A pleasant ambience is important to enjoying your food, so eat better in a nicer kitchen by changing a few details, or go big and remodel. Either way, you'll be happy with the changes.
