Some travelers enjoy staying in expensive, luxurious hotels like the one where Miss Marple stayed on her dream vacation. Bertram's Hotel had beautifully appointed rooms and flawless service. But for people who have no intention of spending their vacation time indoors and would be just as happy with a cheap hotel London has exactly what you want. The Capital of the UK isn't the cheapest city in the world. Unless you are an elderly spinster who really cares about the perfect poached egg you would probably rather be spending money on things other than your lodgings. In addition to the big famous museums there are many smaller museums that cater to a variety of interests. Fans of comic art will enjoy the Cartoon Museum, just a short walk from the British Museum. And of course Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts won't want to miss 221B Baker Street the home of the Sherlock Holmes Museum. The legendary Madame Tussauds Wax Museum on Marleybone Road is a two-minute walk from the Baker street tube station. The wax museum has been in the same location since 1884. However the exhibit has grown and changed greatly since the young Anna Maria Grosholtz got her start molding death masks of royal victims of the French Revolution. Today visitors can see modern sports heroes and film stars along with famous figures from history. The Chamber of Horrors remains a favorite exhibit with visitors from all over the world. London has beautiful architecture, parks, gardens and shops as well as museums and galleries. But it also has an exciting night life. The Soho district, though cleaned up and newly fashionable since the 1980s, still retains some of what made it notorious in early years. Clubs and bars serve the latest music and shows that range from racy to raunchy. Prince Harry has been known to visit some of the livelier nightspots in the area. For finding cheap hotels London is not the the most obvious place to look. But there are reasonably price lodgings near all the major attractions. You just have to look for them. An online search is a good place to start. Find out where other travelers have stayed and what they recommend.
