You're going out somewhere really exclusive and you would like to arrive in style. If so, why not hire a limo? If you bargain real hard, you might just be able to hire a limo for less than you think. Here are 7 steps to hire a limousine.

1. First things first. When deciding to hire a limo, make sure you find out the costs. A standard size limo, able to accommodate six people will cost you between $40 and $80 per hour. Then you also get the stretch limo that can accommodate eight people, costing you between $80 and $100 per hour.

2. Amenity checklist. Once you have found out the costs, check to see what amenities it will provide you with. Make sure that when choosing a limo, the company you choose to make use of is registered and insured. Also, this is where you need to make a few decisions. Would you like a standard limo or a stretch limo? Would you like to have a bar, Jacuzzi, sunroof and DVD player? What time do you need it for and how many people will it be for.

3. The limo screening test. Once you have found out everything you needed to, take some time to 'inspect' the limo for yourself. Check the condition of the limo, and only once you are satisfied, proceed to paying your deposit.

4. Timing is important. Should you make a booking to hire a limo in advance? If you are particular about the limousine and amenities you would like to book, you might want to do this early and in advance to prevent disappointment.

5. A bad driver can ruin everything. Therefore, it is important to hire a dependable driver. He should be experienced, well-versed with the city and professional in what he does. If, however, you have different locations in mind, you might want to book in advance and add all locations to your itinerary. This way, your driver will know exactly where to go and what to do.

6. Tipping or no tipping. In most cases it is expected of you to tip your driver. However, when you hire a limo, just double check with the company.

7. Hidden costs can be a nasty surprise. No one likes having the 'hidden cost surprise'. Therefore it is best to find out about this beforehand so that you are not surprised with a bigger than usual bill at the end of it all. Ask the company about any hidden costs.

Once you have completed these 7 steps to hire a limo, make sure you ask for a written contract to close the deal and protect your interests. You are now ready for a good night on the town.
