If your 4 legged friend appears to be suffering due to dog joint arthritis , it is pretty likely, and especially if they are older in age that joint arthritis issues could be the problem. Joint problems and dogs are the most commonly seen condition and veterinarians offices. Just like in humans, our canine friends began suffering from joint disease as they age. Although there are no cures for dog joint problems which are caused by the onset of osteoarthritis, there are supplements and other drugs that may alleviate the pain and even progression to some extent. The symptoms of dog joint problems are often seen as the dog ages and has trouble negotiating stairs, jumping up or down off of the furniture, were shows signs of difficulty and rising from a sitting position. And further more, they may whine slightly when beginning to lie down or rise up from a sitting position as the pain in the joints is more severe and acute in those situations. There are several alternatives for treating dog joint problems in older canines who are suffering from osteoarthritis. The first option for treating these problems is a natural supplement products such as liquid glucosamine. The best benefits for using a natural product like liquid glucosamine is that it has almost no side effects and is not harmful in any way. It is also often times for less expensive than its prescribed medication counterparts. The downside to using a natural supplement product as glucosamine is that the effects are not immediately enjoyed by the canine. It can take several weeks and up to several months in severe cases before relief is felt by the dog who is suffering from joint problems. The good news here is that the relief comes in the form of an actual rebuilding process that occurs within the joints instead of simply masking and hiding the pain with prescribed medication. Unlike the natural glucosamine supplements we discussed above, prescription meds for treating dog joint problems, although they may be very effective and immediately stopping the pain, have numerous and sometimes severe harmful effects. It must be noted that these bad effects have even been deadly in some dogs. Although the side effects are quite immediate in and helping ease the canine's pain from osteo-arthritis, there is no healing process or regeneration experienced within the dog joints damaged by osteo-arthritis such as observed when using an all natural supplement product like dog liquid glucosamine. Always attempt using an all-natural product like liquid glucosamine when your dog first experiences osteo joint arthritis. Only after using the product correctly for several months and without seeing any evidence of benefit should the more dangerous and more expensive prescription medications be attempted. Always be aware of the signs of potential side effects when giving your dog these dangerous medications. If any side effects or seen, stop giving the products immediately and consult your veterinarian for advice.
