Copyright (c) 2012 Deluxe Sweets and Candy Gifts Looking for the ultimate "sweet" gift for him on Valentines Day? Well, I'm a guy and can tell you it's easy to please us with desserts. The problem of course is there are so many to choose from and should you buy something or just make it.? Hey, this is supposed to be a romantic holiday, a way of saying, "I love you and want to go the extra mile for you," so...make something. Nothing says "I love you" more when it comes time for gifts than to actually make it yourself and no other gift-giving holiday is better for sweets than Valentines Day. I've got the perfect combination for you, something easy to make (at least pretty easy) and it's gourmet. Biscotti Cookies These Italian cookies are perfect for the times where coffee is king. Crunchy, a little hard, filled with distinct, rich flavor and great for dipping into gourmet coffee or hot chocolate. Now as you can probably imagine there is a never-ending list of biscotti recipes and some are easier to make than others, but I will make some recommendations for you here. Let's just keep it simple. Just pick from a chocolate biscott recipe, an almond or combination of both. I really like Chocolate Almond Biscotti. I love how it makes the whole house smell like I'm in some Italian bakery in the middle of Venice or Naples (ok so I haven't been there, but I can dream, right?) These cookies taste phenomal. You won't believe, in fact, no one will believe that you made these yourself. I took some in to work once for everyone to try and they waited for months with intense anticipation until I suprised them again later with another batch. They blow any biscotti away you can buy at the store or ANY coffee shop. I can taste them in my mouth right now they are so good. Please save a few for yourself to eat, don't give them all to your boyfried or husband. Another good flavor to try is Chocolate Coffee Biscotti. This one takes a little more work and a few more ingredients but the taste is out of this world and he won't be disappointed. Either one will work. There are many to choose from but since any will be a winner just stick with one of these and you can't go wrong. You can take your biscotti gifts to another level by dipping them in chocolate after they've cooled. Choose from any type dark, milk or white chocolate. Try even drizzling red or pink colored white chocolate wafers for added flare and effect. Even dip the wet chocolate in toppings like mini chocolate chips, nuts, mini hard shelled chocolates or even sprinkles. Just let your imagination run wild. You're on your way to being the "biscotti expert" amongst friends and collegues. Packaging Stick about a half dozen in individual cellophane bags, tie them off with a brown ribbon and the best part drop them in a new coffee mug. Wrap up a bag or tin of his favorite gourmet coffee or hot chocolate and you have a gift he will not be able to put down once he puts it in his mouth. I can't wait for you to see his face after he sinks his teeth into these gourmet sweets and you inform him they are homemade. Just don't be surprised when he asks you to make them again and again. Happy Valentines Day!
