The largest collection of data and information in the world, the internet is a constantly grow monster. With something that massive, there is a continually necessity for new storage space. Now a new convenient and affordable option has become available in the form of cloud server. Here is a brief look at some of their benefits. Traditionally, if a user needed to dedicate more space for their website, they would have to purchase and set up new hardware. This could be an incredibly time consuming process. Now with a cloud server hosting solution, there is no need to go through all of the hassle. There is no new hardware whatsoever, everything is all software. Buying a tangible storage space was not just a financial burden, but it took up a lot of space as well. Companies with high traffic sites sometimes had to dedicate whole buildings to store these computers. Data centers in the US are currently consuming two percent of the nation's electricity. Since the host computers must be running constantly, the hydro charge is enormous. This makes the appeal of a website more attractive to small business owners, since they don't have to break the bank to do it. If a website had a traffic surge, it would need more memory or it would crash. This meant that new physical hardware had to be purchased and set up. Instead, users can now simply allot more space for their traffic by increasing their resource amount. The ability to scale the resource amount vertically is limitless. To the opposite effect, if there was a sudden drop in traffic, the person could be stuck paying for memory they don't need. Now, that person simply descends the vertical scale, removing dedicated space. This means that they don't have to pay for the something that they aren't using. The change can be made almost instantly like a light switch. As with any growing trend, there are always new groups that want to jump on the bandwagon. This works in favor of potential users. With so many options, all services and resources can become available with the click of a mouse. Bargain hunters can find cheap servers, while high traffic sites can find twenty-four-hour support and unlimited resource space. The wonders of using a cloud server are great, and they continue to increase as does the number of users using them. Shopping from host to host can save big bucks in space and time. The user has the option to upgrade or downgrade instantly, tailoring their bill to their usage. Cloud servers are doing for the internet, what storage units did for the basement.
