Today we'll explore the options when burning DVDs, because that subject comes up a lot in our emails. You are offered a lot of options when it comes to software that can burn DVDs, and a few of these programs don t let you burn every type of DVD you may want to copy. Here s all you need to know about copying any DVD you want to burn. Too bad you can t just use a program like Nero or Roxio to burn your DVD movies. That s because a lot of the movies that you purchase in the stores come with some sort of copyright guard on them. This type of copyright guard doesn t allow your home computer or laptop to read the disc well enough. I m not saying it can t be done though! You just need to equip your home computer or laptop with the correct kind of software. Once you get the proper tools, it's easy to copy any DVD you want. That copyright guard is of no use against the majority of the recently updated types of DVD burning applications. You can prepare back-ups of any DVD because more recent software programs enable your computer to correctly recognize the DVD. When the program is installed your computer can make sense of the data on the disc. Be aware that, as a rule, movies need 8GB of space on their discs, while most blank DVDs only have 4.7GB of recording space. Luckily, with the better DVD burning applications you can shrink the files to fit. And, it s cheaper to burn your DVDs with this option, because blank 8GB discs cost much more than 4.7GB discs. Be sure your selected DVD burning program allows you periodic updates of the software. Because copyright guards are changed now and then, the best DVD burning programs are set up for this by offering the update option. And, because you never can'tell what you get until you try it, I like to get a program that guarantees me my money back. It s best to get your investment back if anything goes wrong. This should already be inclusive in a DVD burning application from a solid company. Having an all-inclusive DVD burning software is a great way to back-up all your DVDs. Get a program, click the mouse a couple of times, make copies of your DVDs and voila!. The show can go on!
