These days also, the economic downturn has caused many people to reconsider moving to larger homes and to opt for home improvements instead. It's much easier and ultimately will get the job done faster if you can clear out the rooms you're working on and store their contents somewhere else rather than trying to cram it all into other rooms. If you have an allergy sufferer or asthmatic in the house then getting upholstered items well out of the way to clean, dry storage, where they can't absorb the dust that goes with any home decorating job, is a good idea. A range of secure, clean and dry spaces can be rented in self storage facilities for a short period but if you're planning to use this option it's advisable to shop around and reassure yourself your posessions will be safe. If you rent self-storage spaces you have to move the possessions yourself unless you hire a local van and driver to do it for you. One of the first things you might want to establish is whetehr there's a nearby fcility. This is one of several questions you need answers to if you're considering this optuion. What else might you need to consider if you choose this option? They can be summed up as how much access you have, cost and minimum rental period, how much space is needed, security and insurance. Peace of mind for most people means storing their valuables somewhere close to where they live or work and in a place that's properly secured and alarmed, not somewhere out of they way where it may be a tempting target for a break-in. We're increasingly suspicious of other people, sadly, so you'll want to be sure that your property is also secure in the locker or unit you've rented inside the premises. It may also be important to you to go for a unit that gives you 24-hour access with, for example, your own security code to be able to get in when there are no staff on site is ideal, so that you can store or retrieve your property at a time convenient to you. If you're concerned to rent as small a space as possible packing such things as books in similar-sized boxes makes them easier to stack economically, but the staff at most self storage facilities will be experienced enough to guide you. Than can also tell you the minimum rental period - usually 7 days, is enough for a room redecoration. If you're dealing with a building extension or renovation and the builders can't give you an exact timescale for finishing the job, you should ask how the charging works for longer periods. Is it on a weekly or four-weekly basis and what notice do you have to give. Everybody's circumstances are different. With a good storage company you should be able to discuss exactly what you need with experienced staff and look around the facility, to help you organise your storage items more efficiently. You will also have the peace of mind of knowing your property's well cared for and well away from paint splashes, cement dust or anything else that might damage your property during decoration or renovation.
