Spain is also the champion with the fewest actual goals scored for that tournament and lowest average score for a champion. Spain may be the very first nation to lose their very first match of a World Cup and go ahead and win the tournament and may be the very first European group to win the World Cup hosted outside of Europe. All in all a job well done by the pre-tournament co-favorites. Now what? Some nations promise the group members jobs for life for winning the World Cup. There had been some rather interesting promises created to both fans and players of other nations if their group had been to have won, but alas, it's unknown if any of those promises truly would have been upheld.
