If you like the idea of being able to conversationally convince somebody of an idea with so much skill that they think the idea is their own, then you've come to the right place. Here you'll learn a pattern that is incredibly powerful, because it's based on how the brain is hardwired through millions of years of evolution. It's simple, it's straightforward, and you'll be spinning this pattern in no time. The pattern is based on the logical circuitry in the human brain. The human brain has an incredible capacity to look out into the world through our fives senses, find some kind of sensory data, and give meaning to it. Meaning, of course, that doesn't exist until the thinker decides that it is so. For example, you are walking down the street, and you see somebody you know. You say, "Hi," but they keep on walking, totally ignoring you. What does it mean? Well, technically it means absolutely nothing. It was only somebody's behavior, and there are lots and lots of things behind people's behavior. But we humans can't resist putting meaning on events. In this example, you may feel that he was angry, or he was rude, or whatever meaning you may come up with. You can use this tendency of the human mind to gently guide people to the meaning you want them conclude. This is fantastically easy by using Milton Erickson's "Complex Equivalence" language pattern." This pattern uses words to suggest that one thing "means" another. You reading this article means that you are interested in persuasion. You sitting in that chair means that you are a generous person. You choosing to develop yourself means you will be much more successful in your life than most other people. See how that works? The basic idea is to come up with something that is already true about the person you are speaking with, and then simply say it means something that you'd like them to think or do. Sometimes you can use several different statements in a row, kind of to "chain" them together, leading your listener or reader to come to the "obvious" conclusion. You reading this means you are interested in improving yourself. And that means that you probably have a set of goals you'd like to achieve in life. Which of course means that you will be much more successful than other people, as it has been proven time and time again that people with goals make more money, have more happiness, and generally enjoy life more. Naturally, there is more than one way to say "X means Y"." You can say "X indicates Y," or "Y is another way of saying X," or "X demonstrates Y," or a number of others. The best way to structure a communication is to use as many different words for "means" in the sentence as you can. That way you'll have much more persuasive success.
