Electronic cigarette have three basic parts to them. There has to be a reservoir for the e liquid and an atomizer that turns it in to vapor. Then there has to be a power source which could be either a battery that is part of the unit or something that connect to it by cord. The cord could be connected to an external battery, a car adapter or a USB power source. All of these could have different power ratings that usually range between 3.5 and 6V. The voltage can make all the difference to how well your electronic cigarette works but it is not always straight forward to figure out what will work best. When starting out most people buy electronic cigarettes or lavatube vv mod in kits that include a Lithium Ion rechargeable battery and its charger. Those with more experience might buy different components and adapters that allow them to customize to their own personal tastes. This can sometimes lead to a marked improvement in the results that are achieved. For the best results you normally have to find the best combination of atomizer and power source. The atomizer uses a resistive coil to heat up the segment where the liquid turns to vapor. It this does not get hot enough you might not get sufficient vapor. It could also overheat if it is left on too long or if there is too much current. To ensure that it is not left on too long there is either manual or automatic control. There will be batteries that are specifically for manual or automatic models. There could be a variety of different batteries that you could use with the same model though. It is fairly important to match the voltage to what the atomizer is designed for because it will obviously work best in this range. There is a bit of leeway though and you don't always need and exact match. One could assume that the higher the rating the more heat that will be generated. This might not always be the case however as some atomizers are designed to work at a higher voltage while they still have to use the same e liquid which works within a specific heat range. If you are using something that requires less power then it could make a difference if you use a slightly more powerful battery. What a battery is marked at is not always what it delivers though. Certain makes that are market at 3.5V only put out around 3V. By changing the make alone you could get better performance. If you are not getting a good vapor or the atomizer is tending to clog up it could help to use something a bit more powerful. If you feel that the vapor you are getting is a little weak then the power source might be the problem, even if it is the one specified for the make you are using. If you want to experiment it is possible to get a battery that has adjustable voltage. If you are unsure then forums for electronic cigarettes are a good place to get advice on what might actually work. Before you start changing batteries make sure that the atomizer is clean because this might often be the problem. This can be done by rinsing repeatedly and thoroughly drying in between. If that is not the problem then increasing the voltage on your electronic cigarettes could give you better flavor, warmer smoke and a nicer throat hit too.
