No matter, you can still do your practice from the comfort of your home if you decide to take on the role of a very sensitive virtual assistant: the virtual therapist. Actually, the virtual therapist takes on the same type of work as the traditional therapist. However, this is a little more challenging as your work days and your home days can become tangled up. Now, while the traditional therapist has to commute to and from work, the virtual therapist can start their practice as early as they want to. Some may even start taking sessions as early as six in the morning since that is the free time that their clients have. Virtual therapists also offer the same services. Just about any condition can be treated in a virtual form: phobias, conditions, and disorders are all treatable over the internet with the use of a communications program such as Skype. Preferably both therapist and client should have video cameras for this as the client needs to be "seen" by the therapist. A common correction given to drug users is a therapy to correct this behavior. Now quite a few offenders that have this problem may be under house arrest and not allowed to leave the house until a certain period of time is over. How will they get to therapy in this case? It used to be that the therapist would go to the person's house to do the therapy. Now, it's a little different. The therapist can communicate over the internet. Sessions are scheduled virtually and also take place online in most cases. Normally, the sessions have to be recorded on order for the virtual therapist to monitor the patient's progress. A great advance is in the treatment of phobias. There are many people with phobias of planes, elevators, and such that can be treated online with the use of Virtual Reality. The patients can be allowed to "visit an alternate world" by using the internet and can allow them to face their fears from a controllable point of view. Trauma from war can be treated here, too. Many veterans suffer from nightmares or a feeling of guilt and this trauma can be addressed online as well. Again, virtual services reality plays a key role.
