A LAWYER'S 'OPENING STATEMENT' (Yes, I am a lawyer). This is the FIRST of 39 articles. Each article is penned from the 39 lines of a thought provoking song I wrote. At the end of this message, I give an explanation about this series, and also the lines of the song. Collect all 39 to see a whole new dimension to life! + + + + + We live in a world that is dynamic. It is so diverse, with so much opportunity, and so many options. We are all created equal, even though we don't all experience the same things in life. We don't all have the same opportunity, options, and choices. But we all have many of the same ones. We all need to grow where we are planted, making the most of what we have. We must all aspire to get the most out of the best we have to offer. We all have the capacity and unction to live with greater purpose - and with more passion in life. LIFE CONSISTS OF OBSTACLES, PROBLEMS AND OFFENSES Even the Bible, through the words of Jesus, says we will have obstacles, problems and offenses in life. We are meant to have negative things to overcome. We are intended to be offended by people. We are meant to experience problems and hard times. This is what life consists of. An old song says life is not meant to be a rose garden. If earth were perfect, we'd never have any desire for heaven. I've even come to the point of praying for God to send me obstacles, problems and offenses to deal with. After all, I'd rather have them from HIM, where I know I'm loved and cared for. Plus, life sometimes seems to deteriorate as we get older. I even read the other day where over 1/2 of our high school kids in the U.S. are overweight and often obese because of poor health, improper eating and lack of exercise. This was not true 30 years ago. Many kids also smoke, drink and take drugs. Some poor life conditions are generated by society, but WE generate most of them ourselves. In all of this, we must learn to generate a pride and purpose in life. We need to make a difference, and to be needed, at least with families and friends. Many political notables are here to make a difference in the lives of whole nations of people. Pastors are here to make a difference in the lives of the people in their churches, and corporate CEOs in the lives of people in their companies. But we are all here to make a difference in some positive way. Comedian Woody Allen says, "Service to others is the rent I pay for my space here on earth." That's pretty good coming from a comedian. In summary, we should not complain about what we DON'T have, but to give from what we DO have. SOMETIMES WE HAVE LESS TO WORK WITH As an example, America's educational system has gone a long ways downhill since about 1900. Today, our system is nothing like what it used to be - we've lost lots of ground the past 100 years. We used to have an educational system second to none in the world, and it emphasized: + ABC's in a very high caliber way: reading, writing and arithmetic, + MORAL VALUES based on what is today the Boy Scout's Creed, and + HOW TO SUCCEED in our newly established, capitalistic, free enterprise system. Today, reports say that all we have left are the ABC's, and they is taught very inadequately. Most of our young people don't even know about proper conditioning, diet, exercise, manners, morals, or even how to write or speak as adults. They don't know anything about business success and how to achieve it — or even how to socially survive in the world. When it comes to higher education, many young people don't qualify, and if they do, costs are often so high that they can't afford them. Many things in society, all over the world, are going downhill like this. We can either complain, or do something about it for ourselves. We can either approach life looking at it as a 'PROBLEM' or by looking at it with 'SOLUTIONS' in mind. If we are looking at the problem, all we'll see is the problem, but if we're looking for solutions, we will see solutions. ARE WE VICTIMS, OR VICTORS? We are either victims - or victors in life. If we have a victim mentality, then nothing is our fault and we tend to blame everyone: dad, mom, school, and even God. We ask, "Who pushed me?" — and we often think, "I quit!" We look at the problems, and at our deficiencies and weaknesses. We feel controlled and helpless, and like we don't live in a 'Land of Pride and Plenty.' But if we have a victor mentality about life, we are very different. We are always looking at how we can live life more in PASSION — in pride and plenty. We look to see how we can overcome obstacles, and how we can have impact and make a difference in the lives of others. We look for solutions. We want to be of service, in some way, while we are here. "Service to others is the rent I pay..." THE LAW OF ATTRACTION We attract the type of people we are. We have so much negative peer pressure because negative people are often the type of people we attract - if we see ourselves as victims. If we live as victors, we have a solution mentality. We have a sense of PRIDE about life, and we see that there is PLENTY we can do. We have a feeling of thanksgiving and gratitude, even in the midst of problems, offenses and obstacles. In this frame of mind, we attract good to our lives, not bad. We have positive peer pressure. If you need more powerful, helpful people around you, and if you need more good in your life - simply change the way to view and approach life. Don't complain - conquer. Don't condemn - complement. Don't focus on weaknesses, but strengths. Don't think about bad - think about good. Walk around with the attitude, "What can I do to help you?" What goes around comes around. WHAT THESE ARTICLES ARE ALL ABOUT These articles are all about getting the most out of the best you have to offer in life. Each will build upon the other, working in synergism with each other, so it is best to read them in sequence. They are systematic and progressive, designed to help change the paradigm of your life for the better. I also write as THE GOSPEL COACH, so other things I write go deeper into spiritual dimensions and reality. These articles are based on my song: a satire and criticism of life. Negative lines of the song are transformed into positives in these articles. To learn more: http:www.SearchingForReality.blogspot.com.
