Top 3 Tough Countries to Visit But Worthwhile!

Getting a tourist visa for some countries is easy for an American. Getting an Australian visa can be done over the Internet. There are some countries though that are a real pain to visit. This means that you should plan months in advance of your trip, and get your visa early unless you want to miss your trip entirely. Some of the hardest countries to see are below.

India

You should go to India so you can see Mumbai, Bollywood, the tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan and the Taj Mahal of course.

But getting a visa to India takes time. You need to make an application to the visa outsourcing company that does the visa processing for the government. This company will inform you which consulate will handle your application depending on where you reside. You then need to prove you are a resident of the US. But don't worry: more than 7 million Americans visit India each year, so the country does issue visas!

Russia

Russia is a great country to see. Not just all the great sights of Moscow and St. Petersburg, but it is a lot of fun to take a train a few days out into one of the big cities of central Russia and see how real Russians live far outside of the biggest cities.

However, it's a pain to get here! You are going to first need a letter of invitation. You will need a sponsor which might be a hotel in Russia or a Russian tour company. You also can use one of the various visa agencies online. It is a good idea to have a person who reads Russian to look at your visa when you are leaving. You want to make sure that it has all the correct information and has the right dates. Once you get a visa approval, you need to give your visa app to one of the US consulates. You also can have a visa service do this for you.

Make sure you do not stay longer than your visa says. Otherwise you will have to wait until you have a new visa approved which can take a few weeks.

China

Who would not want to see The Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Terra Cotta

Warriors, and Shanghai?

Getting a visa here is not that hard but you have to provide several pages of information on the form and it also costs over $100.

You have to tell them where you will be staying each night of your trip, in sequence. They also want to know who your family is and all of their nationalities and where they work (we don't get it, either). You also have to drop your application off at the appropriate Chinese consulate; don't even think about mailing it in. You want to make sure that you fill out the application right or it will be rejected.

These places are very much worth visiting, so you should just build in the time to your visa application process.
