A cloud computing company obtains virtual storage capacity from a wholesaler before reselling it in parcels among multiple clients. Resellers offer solutions for hosting software along with full IT outsourcing, depending on what companies require. In addition to providing high-quality customer support, good resellers offer multiple packages to accommodate different storage needs as well as different operational capacities. Software as a Service (SaaS) utilizes applications that are hosted on an off-site platform. Hosted email services are good examples of SaaS in action. With hosted email, clients access their accounts but do not host their accounts. SaaS provides many applications in addition to email for end users and also allocates the resources necessary to run those applications. Users do nothing except point their browsers at the applications that are available in the virtual environment. With PaaS, or Platform as a Service, companies get cloud management. Some infrastructure services are provided in addition to resource allocation and dynamic scaling. Users whose companies have PaaS will use off-site platforms for their development but will still have development capability. In a nutshell, some services are taken over by the provider, while other services are completed in-house. With IaaS, or Infrastructure as a Service, the host provides all equipment and support necessary to maintain and manage clouds. Networking components, hardware, storage and servers are included as well as configuration management tools and dynamic scaling. With IaaS, businesses get hosting and a full platform that includes equipment provision, equipment running and equipment maintenance. Some professionals call IaaS "Hardware as a Service". In addition to providing business services, resellers should provide customer support tools. When end users do not have much in-house expertise regarding cloud computing, they will inevitably require guidance. Forums and FAQs will allow customers to search for help topics independently, while telephone, email and chat support will provide problem resolution in real time. The best resellers give prompt and courteous attention to customer issues to ensure their quick resolution. Customers should be able to choose from multiple provider packages. Without investing in infrastructure in-house, businesses will be able to expand for future storage needs. Companies can add capacity by sending an email or by calling the provider when the pricing structure includes multiple tiered plans. Companies may choose between monthly subscription plans or pay-as-you-go billing depending on which option best fits the company budget. Many companies are functioning as cloud hosting resellers. These companies virtualize their own services in an IaaS relationship with their wholesaler and then resell virtual machines and capacity to their clients. If a business works with a reseller, then the business should ensure that the original wholesaler, as well as the reseller, is reputable before signing any contract. Whether purchases of virtual capacity are made from a primary host or a cloud hosting reseller, businesses will realize immediate benefits. To suit their individual security needs, companies may choose either private or public solutions. The reliability, flexibility and scalability of virtual servers will allow IT departments to outsource many redundant operational activities.
