Vancouver is a very young city, but even though it does not have a lot of history, it has wonderful scenery. This town is surrounded by amazing beaches and mountains. The city has a rather chic atmosphere, lots of high end boutiques, and very health conscious people who are careful of what they eat. Vancouver is often called the Northern Hollywood. It is about 1300 miles north of the real thing, but this city has been used as the backdrop for many recent TV shows. Some of them include Battlestar Galactica and The Twilight Saga.

There is an amazing number of fun outdoor activities to choose from in Vancouver, British Columbia. You can choose from mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rafting, skiing and a lot more. If you want to relax, you can try the eleven miles of beaches this city has to offer. When it gets cold, we suggest trying some of the excellent museums. When you are interested in eating, we strongly recommend the seafood of this city. There are thousands of restaurants in Vancouver, and it is known as one of the top dining cities in North America. Chinatown has many Chinese restaurants, and you also can get Italian and Indian food in East Vancouver.

Also try these attractions:

Stanley Park This is a 400 acre park and is one of the city's most popular attractions. This is a great place to get in a workout. If you like to swim a lot, you can go to Second Beach and Third Beach. There also are many bike and running paths here, so you can get plenty of exercise after a long day of seeing the city.

There also are four restaurants in the park. There are several big events in the park each year, including Dance at Dusk and Halloween Ghost Train.

Granville Island This is an old industrial area and is today one of Vancouver's favorite neighborhoods. It is almost its own little city. Granville Island now has many new trendy restaurants, galleries and movie theaters. The biggest attraction here, however, would be the Granville Island Public Market. It is one of the best open air markets in North America. Whatever you want, you can buy it here. Produce, crafts, meats, dairy, kitchen appliances, you name it.

You also can enjoy lots of fun activities here, including kayaking, and the free waterpark is fun too.

Kitsilano Beach When the weather is sunny and warm, you should go down to the shores of English Bay with the natives. This beach is one of Vancouver's most popular swimming areas. Also, there are many options for inline skating and volleyball. If you want to swim but the water is too cold for you, try the heated Kitsilano Pool. There also are tennis courts and many concession stands to grab a bit to eat.

We think you will be as enchanted with Vancouver, British Columbia as we were on our trip. It offers so many interesting things to do with such a beautiful and scenic backdrop.
