Treasure hunting has indeed not taken a different path in the previous decade. This is truly because metal detecting is in itself exciting. The only enhancements done are on the metal detectors themselves. Some firms have created newer and more advanced metal detectors that are sold in the market for the veteran artifact or coin collector. Metal detecting can be really fun and exciting especially if you know the best tricks to get the most out of your metal detector. But to start with, you have to find the best metal detector for you. If you are just starting out on your metal detecting venture, opt for the metal detectors for the novice because it is simple to use and uncomplicated, which is what you initially need. If you have stumbled upon the metal detector that truly suits you, then off you go on your metal hunting trip. However, even if you possess the metal detecting device, you also need to know where to find it. Dry sand can become one of the best search areas with your metal detector. Beaches that are frequently visited by people would be best searched at around 5pm onwards, when almost all the people have gone home and the beach is nearly deserted by people that may hinder you from totally scouring the entire beach area. Shallow waters more often that not provide good outputs. The reason being people stay more in the shallow portion of the beach because they can actively play there and guard their children at the same time, and the water shrinks the fingers and usually lets their valuables fall into the sandy water where stuff is really hard to recover. If the beach is not available in your area, doing some background research can always help you in trying to determine historical areas near you where you can start your metal hunting activities. There are a lot of success stories where an avid treasure hunter has been scouring a particular historical area for years and have discovered very expensive artifacts which was auctioned and sold for a hefty sum. Recently, there have been a number of treasure hunts that turned successful through the use of metal detectors. Recently some old coins were found in Somerset, England, by a novice treasure hunter who was just scouring the area with the use of a novice detector. The coins were his first find.
