The client obviously wants to avoid server downtime, especially during high usage time. System maintenance times are typically set in the agreement, hopefully during the the lowest need times of the client. The client may occasionally experience emergency maintenance or repair needs. The procedure to handle this event is also spelled out in the agreement. The service provider must provide the administration services. The client expects to be able to reach the service provider during business hours. Administration also must include configuring the system, doing the network implementation and maintenance. Setting up files and configuring remote printers are all part of administrative duties. The operating system is administered by the service provider. This includes installing the hardware. It also includes both installation and the maintenance of a console access system and power distribution system. Installing applications is another feature included within a custom SLA. he provider is responsible for supplying the level of services and storage that will allow for the smooth operation of all aspects of the systems. The server has to contain enough storage for the operating system, application software and for backup systems needed by the customer. Sometimes, the client will need extra data storage that is outside the standard systems needs. Once the applications are installed on the server, the maintenance and support of the applications are the responsibility of the client and the application software provider. Regular administration doesn't come under the responsibilities of the service provider. The client will need to ensure that the service has the room to support the space needs of the application. Learning why custom SLA is important for managed hosting is fundamental for efficient operation of the equipment. The software system must be in prime operating condition with a minimal amount of downtime. The terms must be identified for the rights and responsibilities of each party to the agreement.
