Recruiting Talented People For A New Venture

By : Nick Messe

The entrepreneurial spirit is one of constantly evolving creative ideas. Small businesses flourish far longer than many big businesses because of the ability of entrepreneurs to be inventive, ambitious and innovative interminably. It seems logical that when an entrepreneur requires talent for a start-up venture, these same qualities should be evident in the people the entrepreneur recruits. The hum of like-minded talent makes any venture brim over with natural enthusiasm that is a harbinger of success.

Once a venture has been properly designed, the natural phases of small business will inevitably see growth. Take advantage of the many professional business networks within the entrepreneurial community to assist with recruiting the most talented people. Making the case for a start-up venture to new recruits should be through polished, proven performance. Anything less will not magnetize the brightest and best in the pool of talent.

In order to attract the most talented individuals, it's important to design the structure of their roles as they relate to the complete picture of the venture. Most entrepreneurs know the type of talent they want to attract for start-up success. Often, this becomes diverted unless a secure design of recruitment is in place. Like any plan for recruitment, the small business consultant needs to clearly identify the most important qualifications future associates should possess.

The next step is to determine the depth of skills and experience required to propel the venture forward with adequate momentum as a result of human input. The entrepreneurial spirit is based upon the ability to place faith and confidence in sound decision-making processes that assure growth and success. Within this realm of talent, leadership skills play an important role. In addition to leadership skills, each candidate should possess the ability to set timely goals, work well autonomously as well as with teams, have good transactional analysis, and innovative marketing capabilities. Capturing talent as an entrepreneur is essential to the embodiment of a professional business image.

Interviews with talented people don't always strike at the heart of their capabilities and potential. As an example, a new hire is often unable to fully grasp the full picture of the business operation from the immediate sense. Conversely, those who act as interfacing associates have no problem moving forward on any project. This implies a certain associative confidence and business connection missing from the equation with a newly hired individual.

It also is a clue to the standard that the entrepreneur should consider crucial. Set a recruiting standard based upon professionality. Professionality is a singular instrument of professional talent. This is a time-tested logic most entrepreneurs recognize clearly. The addition of associates to a start-up venture should engender the same dedication to the pursuit of success that is inherent in entrepreneurship.
