For toddlers the world is an amazing place. There are discoveries to be made around every corner. This innate sense of wonder makes it possible for them to absorb new information like a sponge. It also makes keeping their young minds stimulated something of a chore. What we may see as a nice toy such as wooden push alongs can end up being so much more to a toddler. Coming up with creative play for a toddler can be difficult for an adult mind. Once you get in the habit of using your imagination to stimulate your child's mind, coming up with creative play idea may become second nature for you. The gift you give your child by developing new and interesting activities will pay off in many ways. Providing your child with an opportunity to play is important since just about every young child will turn something mundane into a game if they are given the chance. By encouraging you toddler to come up with new games of their own, you are helping them to develop their imaginations which will in turn help them to become innovative thinkers. It is also important to be fun yourself. Lead by example and do not hesitate to skip or dance on an otherwise boring walk. If you take the approach that every moment is a chance to learn or discover, then you will begin to make playing more creative. When you are in a car or other long activity that toddlers tend to chafe against, it is an excellent chance to invent new songs. Kids love to sing and young children love to be sung to. Rhyming games or games in which the point is to identify some object out a window will keep your toddler occupied and entertained at the same time. Art projects are a perfect time for toddlers to invent explore and express. Whether it is paint, sidewalk chalk or children's clay, kids seem to never get tired of making things. Your toddler's creative play is an opportunity to develop the bonds that will last a lifetime. The games that a parent creates have a way of being remembered and each family has put its own unique twist on many common games. When you use your imagination to help your toddler explore the world around him, you will instantly see the ways that being a mom or dad can be so rewarding. Coming up with creative ideas for play time may just help the adult get in touch with the creative side of themselves that has in some cases been dormant for far too long. Taking the example of wooden push alongs these are inexpensive props to a toddlers play. These come in all sort of shapes and colours, some are colourful animals or fairies. Do not be surprised if toys like this get a name and a favourite place in the heart of your toddler. Your toddler may see his wooden push along as far more than something pretty made out of wood, but instead a friend, playmate and companion, who deserves to be given their own name. Or it could be that they arrived in your home with a name already, that only your toddler knows about...
