Cosmetic fillings are becoming the norm vice the old, traditional metal fillings. Cosmetic fillings are just as strong as traditional fillings but do not cause any of the same tooth discoloration that can occur over time when metal is used. Dental Crowns, also referred to as caps, are used to strengthen and restore an existing tooth that has been damaged due to wear, decay, or because it has been broken or cracked. A crown is placed over the tooth, above the gum line, and permanently cemented into place. Most crowns today are made of porcelain and can be customized to color-match the surrounding teeth making the filling practically invisible. Veneers are very thin porcelain shells that are placed over the tooth using a dental bonding method. Veneers are uniform in shape, size, and color, and once in place create a nearly instant perfect smile. They have the added benefit of being extremely stain resistant.
