Volleyball takes on a new twist with a fast moving variation called rebound volleyball. Set up in an inside court, the two teams play the ball back and forth over the net and off of the walls. This gives the game a quick pace that keeps the players on the go. For a great way to get in shape and have a wonderful time, this is the sport to try. One of the hottest indoor sports to hit Brisbane is rebound volleyball. This sport gets you moving inside with five other players as you work the ball over the net. This fast paced game is fantastic for players at all levels of fitness. Whether you are a beginner or have been playing volleyball for many years, you are bound to have a fabulous time. Layout of the Game - Rebound volleyball is played within the boundaries of an inside cricket court. The net is set at the baseline, which is seven meters back from the wall, and stretches across the length of the court. Each team serves from an established serving area using a rubber ball that is similar to a volleyball. The court is surrounded by netting on the sides and ceiling. A boundary line around the outside of the court marks the out of bound line where the ball cannot cross under the net. The teams usually consist of six players per side and in many cases include a mixture of men and women. Some Rebound Volleyball teams can be as small as two or three players, this all however depends on how many are playing. The number of players can alter the strategy that the team uses when employing people to block, hit and serve. Game Rules - When playing rebound ball, each player rotates serving the ball to the other team. The ball can be played off of the side nets, but can only touch the overhead net when a team is hitting the ball for the first time. This gives the receiving team a chance to get control of the ball from a speedy return, such as after a spike. Players are not limited to a set position on the court, either. As they rotate through a game to serve, players can move around to any spot they choose while playing. This is a fantastic rule as it provides each of the players with the chance to play by the net, the rear of the court or to serve. While in play, the server can hit the ball hard, but has to be careful not to get it out of bounds. The game moves fast and players have to have quick reflexes to know where the ball will land when it bounces back from the net.
