This charming hotel is located in the middle of the lovely historic district of St. Augustine. This hotel is a nice little romantic getaway for a couple who wants to respark the romance. You enter the St. Francis through a lovely courtyard that has plenty of southern charm, beautiful greenery, and the pleasing aroma of jasmine.

After you walk through this courtyard, you come to the door of the building, which is a very nice Spanish Colonial and very well maintained. The hotel was built way back in 1791, and it is the oldest hotel in St. Augustine. It has plenty of amenities, charm, and maybe even a bit more for people who are interested in supposedly haunted inns!

The St. Francis truly has some of the nicest staff you will ever come across anywhere in the world. This inn is really a great hideaway for anyone, especially a couple who wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are 16 rooms in total, and also there is a separate cottage where you can stay. This is really nice for a couples retreat. Each room has unique decorations, including antique furniture, and some rooms have hot tubs. You also can choose a nicely appointed room with a fireplace and kitchen.

As you walk into your room, you should see a lot of fresh cut flowers, and also you will find a small bottle of sherry to make a toast with your significant other.

The St. Francis is perfectly situated in St. Augustine and is a great place to start out from for sightseeing. The hotel is right next door to the Gonzalez-Alvarez House. This is known as 'The Oldest House.' This dwelling has been occupied since the 17th century, and you can get a discounted admission here with your hotel stay. You also can opt for a free admission to the St. Augustine Lighthouse.

You'll be pleased to notice that the hotel is within walking distance to St. George St., where there is plenty of shopping on hand. You can even get a massage therapist at the St. Francis. You might need it after walking the cobblestone streets of what is the oldest city in the United States.

When you wake up in the morning at the St. Francis, you will enjoy a sumptuous gourmet breakfast. The menu changes every day, but it is always delicious and plentiful. After breakfast, you can enjoy the sun and scenery on your private balcony. Or, you can borrow a free bike to tour around the town, and also get some exercise. When you return in the afternoon, the St. Francis has a great social hour and complementary drinks. They also give you some light snacks, as well. You do not want to indulge too much, however. The dessert selection in the evening is irresistible.

St. Augustine is known to be one of the most haunted towns in America. The St. Francis itself is said to be haunted by a ghost of a slave woman named Lily. Supposedly her secret lover killed himself in the hotel.

Regardless of your interest in ghosts, you will really enjoy your stay in the charming St. Francis.
