Technology has experienced growth throughout the planet. The fast pace of integration has increased the importance and difficulty in maintaining systems to deliver products and services via the Internet. Cloud servers hosting entered the fray several years ago with promises of being the most reliable type of hosting service available. The promises of zero interruptions has made everyone wonder if any service really can be that reliable. Compared to the other available systems, it seems to be holding its own. The way a cloud hosting server is designed eliminates most of the previous system potential problems. The combination of software and hardware working together spreads the load over a vast array of servers. The way the division works allows the software to simply use available boxes. If one goes down, another is simply used in its place. This is different from redundant systems because there is not a need for fail-over protections. They work in tandem instead of being backups. Compared to dedicated servers, the load is balanced to prevent hardware failure issues. On a dedicated system, a single failure can be devastating. Often, a backup is created, but has to be loaded before the system can come back up. The precious minutes that this takes can cost thousands and millions of dollars as customers look for more reliable systems. Virtual private servers leave your website open to the bad habits of neighbor users. Since many customers share a single server, if one creates a process that overloads the system, every website on that server will bog down. This can be a severe problem when you are trying to process payments. If a customer feels the system is taking too long, they will often cancel the sale and look for similar products elsewhere. A large outage was reported in the past. The only reason it made headlines in the news was because of the large amount of service that was interrupted for the few hours of the interruption. The good thing about this event was that the company and industry learned technology lessons and have been able to improve the service even more. This amounted to about one hundredth of a percent of down time. There were no large reported interruptions before or since. Compared to other types of systems, it continues to prove to be an extremely reliable solution. System reliability continues to improve. Though there isn't necessarily much room for improvement, the hosting companies continue to discover newer and better ways to improve how the systems provide reliability. As the systems become more popular, the prices drop. This is making it more affordable for the small and medium sized companies to begin using the technology. The largest web companies already use the technology. The worlds largest search engine and retailer have been using this type of system for several years. In fact, they depend on it to provide the load balancing needed to handle hundreds of millions of requests per month. Cloud hosting continues to grow in popularity. Though a single failure made headline news, the impressive note is the total silence heard since. The proven track record of the systems gives even the largest companies comfort in knowing they can handle almost any level of customer growth.
