If you are a coffee lover, you may prefer the convenience of coffee in a can from the Asian market. This is a much more premium selection than average American canned coffee, especially since Japan has such a wide variety of brands to offer. Specifically, a popular brand in Japan is called "American Coffee", which has pictures of a classic car and a beautiful woman to create a 60s feel. This coffee drink is actually quite delicious with the perfect balance of sweetness. It appears that Japan knows what they are doing when it comes to creating canned coffee, which has been popular in Japan for decades. It can commonly be found in vending machines throughout the country. This canned coffee market has become so popular that even top soft drink companies in the United States have created their own canned coffee products for Japan. Packaging: The idea for canned coffee is entirely unique to Japan, and it distinguishes it from coffee grounds packaged in bags or canisters. Canned coffee will normally come in hard steel compared to the cheap aluminum that packages American energy drinks. You may also find interesting lettering or graphics, similar to the "American Coffee" mentioned above. Nutrition: Energy giants in the US often contain preservatives and baking soda, but canned coffee in Japan has regular sugar. It contains less preservatives overall, and a regular can may have 120 calories, which is average for a coffee drink. The caffeine buzz from a normal canned coffee drink is minimal and what you would expect from a single cup of Joe. Taste: Canned coffee in Japan does not have a syrupy or preservative type flavor, which is difficult to find in coffee drinks in the United States. Canned Japanese coffee has a deliciously smooth flavor that tastes similar to real cream and sugar instead of the low quality cream and sugar additives used to hide a poor taste in American coffee beverages. As you can see, Japan takes a much different approach to their coffee production than the American canned coffee drinks. The US has not yet popularized canned coffee with the exception of a few coffee retailers on the market that produce the products. If you have not yet had the pleasure of visiting Japan to try a canned coffee beverage, you may be surprised at the vast difference between the canned coffee products available in Japan and in the United States. It appears that the Japanese put more quality into their coffee beverages on the go, yet you still have to appreciate many of the fine brews made from gourmet coffee beans available at coffee shops all over the United States. Depending upon what you are looking for, the quality may vary from country to country for your cup of Joe.
